Makeup Artist Trick #3: Long Lashes

Two products that you probably already own are the secret to the long, doe-eyed lashes that the makeup artists create. Today's MUA Trick is quick and easy to accomplish and will instantly make you look more youthful and refreshed. Read on after the jump for more...
Long lashes are a woman's beauty staple. First and foremost they help to frame the windows, so to speak. By increasing the length of your lashes you create a more open-eyed effect as the eye itself appears larger. Lengthy lashes also are a sign of youth, and just by adding a little longitude you can take off a few years and maybe disguise the toll that your work deadlines or new baby's sleep schedule has taken on you!

What You Need:
  mascara
  translucent face powder

Start with clean, residue free lashes. Apply one light coat of mascara to both sets of fringe. With a medium sized fluffy brush, pick up some translucent powder. Gently tap off the excess powder and dust the ends of the lashes. Apply a second coat of mascara. Repeat this a second and/or third time if you like.

The reason this simple little trick works is because the tiny particles of the powder cling to the mascara at the ends of the lashes. Once you apply the second coat they act as itty bitty extensions that the mascara can build onto and therefore create more even more length. Just keep it the powder on the tips and don't go overboard. There is such a thing as lashes that are too long.
